Australia - New Zealand Tri-lateral Conference on “Marine Biology, Biodiversity, and Ecosystem” from June 20 to 21, 2011

Under the MOU between the National Science Council (NSC) Taiwan and the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), NSC held the inaugural Taiwan-Australia-New Zealand tri-lateral conference on “Marine Biology, Biodiversity, and Ecosystem” from June 20 to 21, 2011, at the National Taiwan Ocean University in Keelung, Taiwan. Nine Australian delegates, led by Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS), Dr. Ian Poiner, and two New Zealand delegates from the University of Auckland and the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) attended the conference. During the course of the event, the delegation also visited Academia Sinica, National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium, National Applied Research laboratories, and the Fisheries Research Institute (FRI, Council of Agriculture). The conference encouraged Taiwanese and Australian researchers to embark on collaborative research projects in the field of marine science.
