UH-Postdoctoral Associate Job Opening @ Tai-Yen Chen’s Lab

There is a postdoctoral position available at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Houston. Our research investigates metal homeostasis in healthy and diseased neurons using single-molecule techniques, with the goals to understand how metals affect neuronal signaling and cause neurodegenerative diseases.  We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral associate to generate neuronal models using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC).

In this role, you will

  • Develop novel neuronal models using human iPSCs.

  • Conduct CRISPR/Cas9-based genetic screening and genome engineering to identify potential disease driver genes.

  • Develop molecular, cellular and functional assays to measure AD disease phenotypes.

    Our ideal candidates will have:

  • PhD or MD or equivalent degree in the fields of stem cell biology, developmental neurobiology, neuroscience, molecular biology, functional genomics or related fields

  • Excellent skills and experience in human iPSC derivation, stem cell culture, neural differentiation and direct neural lineage conversion.

  • Excellent skills and experience in CRISPR/Cas9-based genetic screening and cell line engineering.

  • Extensive demonstrated experience in molecular biology and genetics/genomics including DNA/RNA isolation and manipulation, vector cloning, PCR and qPCR.

Interested candidates please send a CV with contact information of three references to Dr. Chen (tchen37@central.uh.edu). I would really appreciate if you can share this job post with any people you think might be interested.
