Taiwan Scholarship Program 2008

for Italian and Spanish students

 

 

National Science Council of Taiwan will sponsor for 2008-2009 academic year Scholarship Program for Italian and Spanish graduate students interested in pursuing Master or Doctoral degree studies in a Taiwanese university.  1 scholarship is offered to Italian students and 1 to Spanish students.

Content

 

The scholarship recipients will receive a stipend of NT$30,000* per month (1€ = NT$ 47.6 in January 2008). Recipients will be responsible for their international airfares, registration fees, tuition fees**, insurance, food, accommodations*** and other miscellaneous expenses. Scholarship stipends will be made available to recipients on a monthly basis in care of universities.

 

Duration/Extension

 

- For Master Degree studies: scholarship will be allocated for up to 2 years, from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2010.

- For PhD Degree studies: scholarship will be allocated for up to 3 years, from September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2011.

Scholarship will be renewed after the first year subject to regular attendance and academic results.

 

Qualification

 

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

- having an outstanding academic record;

- not being overseas Chinese students or foreign students who are concurrently holding a Taiwan nationality;

- not being exchange students, nor in receipt of any other scholarships from any other Taiwan government agencies in Taiwan.

 

Academic application

 

Applicants are responsible for their application process to the universities they wish to enroll in. They will have to send the copy of the admission certificate as soon as they get it to Taipei Representative Office in Italy before June 30, 2008. Should the university refuse admission, applicants will lose their claim to the scholarship.

Recipients must also be able to attend lectures in Taiwan in the fall semester of 2008.

 

Application documents

 

The following documents will compose the application:

- Taiwan Scholarship Application Form + 2 identity pictures

- Signed “Terms of Agreement” document

- Proof of highest educational qualifications and academic performance

- Proof of application to enroll in a Taiwanese university (e.g., a copy of the application form)

- A health certificate

 

All Italian applications must be submitted to Taipei Representative Office in Italy / Ufficio de Rappresentanza di Taipei in Italia, Via Liegi 17, 00198 Roma, before March 31, 2008.

 

After reviewing the application documents, Taipei Representative Office in Italy will select eligible scholarships candidate as well as alternatives. This list will be sent to the related universities by the end of April for their reference. By mid-June, the candidates will be receiving the notification from the universities about their final decision.
