Taiwan Academy, one of the most important Taiwanese/ Chinese cultural contact points, had the grand opening on Oct. 14, 2011 in Houston Cultural Center (10303 West office Drive, Houston, TX 77042, Tel: (713) 789-4995). There are three such a kind of institutes in U. S., the other two are located in Los Angeles and New York. The main purpose to establish the Taiwan Academy is to provide the great link to the Taiwanese and Chinese classic literatures, performing and visual arts, music, and even cuisine. During the opening ceremony, the Director General Chen of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston gave the welcome remarks to more than 100 participants, including senators and their representatives, academic researchers, bankers, general publics, and press. A DVD which introduces the Taiwan Academy was distributed during that day.
